Eli Hyman

4th Generation Owner

The daily running of the business is something that Eli thoroughly enjoys. He likes talking to new & old patrons, learning new things from them and educating others about Charleston and it’s history. Many of our loyal “Raving Fans” have moved on to become close friends of Eli’s. Eli strives to teach his staff the importance of positive attitude and hard work and how it can & will alter our lives for the better. He takes this mission in life very seriously.

Victor Hyman

5th Generation Owner

Victor Hyman is the 5th generation Hyman at this location. He started his career early in the restaurant business, at the age of six he would go with his father to the restaurant and hand-out Hushpuppies, boiled peanuts, and offering samples of She-Crab soup. He worked in various positions throughout the restaurant while growing up. After he came back from the military in 2021 he took on a new roll as a manger of continuing the linage at Hymans Seafood to the fifth generation.

Having grown up in Charleston and graduating College of Charleston prior to enlisting in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) he has found his passion of pleasing people and creating plates that are both appetizing and beautiful, giving in to his passion of flavor-filled food, organizational skills with esthetics.

Being a partner with his father, Eli, might be hard for some, but for them-they work VERY well together, complementing each others strengths AND ensuring that their guests leave “a raving fan”, full and happy. Victor is working towards the goal of a smooth, "well-oiled” establishment that will continue to serve the Charleston community well into the the next few decades. Victors hobbies are very varied: surfing, cooking, traveling, working-out, spending time with family… and many, many more

Terrance Taylor

Kitchen Manager

Terrance joined the Hyman’s Team in 2011 as a Bus Boy / Dish Washer.  Over the years thru hard work and dedication, Terrance worked his way up to one of the Lead Cooks before being promoted to Kitchen Manager in 2021.  Terrance has a passion for excellent food and team member satisfaction.

Clifton Hew

Server

Clifton joined the Hyman’s Team in 2015. Clifton quickly became one of the most knowledgeable servers and consistently receives raving reviews from the guests he serves. Clifton was born in Jamaica and has lived in the USA for the past 30 years.

Kendall Gallashaw

Line Cook

Kendall joined the Hyman’s Team in 1993!! Kendell knows every position around the cook line and is one of the leaders for the culinary team.

Bryon Emminger

Hyman’s Advocate

Bryon, also known as the “Hushpuppy King”, is probably the most recognized face of Hyman’s Seafood. People come year after year and ask to see Bryon. Bryon has been a part of the Hyman’s Team since 2014. It did not take long to realize his passion for people and heart for service. He is certainly a valuable member of our team.

Edmond Floyd

Line Cook

Edmond has been here since the beginning of Hyman’s Seafood. He started with Eli Hyman in 1986!! He is a leader in the kitchen and the most valuable kitchen employee year after year.
